Colorado fall elopement in the mountains and a buena vista intimate wedding video

Mae + Erik

We knew that Mae + Erik's wedding day was going to be special when they first asked us to be their Colorado wedding videographer. These two dream BIG and have unlimited energy! Their inquiry was filled with so many fun details and aspirations. Their exciting Buena Vista wedding day started before sunrise and ended far after sunset. After we recommended many different locations and itineraries, they decided to have their wedding at The Barn at Sunset Ranch in our favorite mountain town of Buena Vista. But a traditional wedding was not enough for these two - they also wanted to have some time to themselves to experience the outdoors together on their wedding day... a mini-elopement, if you will.

We were so stoked to hear they hired our good friends at Century Tree Co as their photographer and DJ for their Colorado wedding. We all made grand plans to hike up to 12,000' on the Continental Divide for an epic first look at sunrise, but nature threw us a curve ball that morning. Their September wedding day was the only rainy day that week! Always up for anything, they changed course and went to an alpine lake for their first look instead. The lake was surrounded by stunning fall colors that were highlighted by the low clouds. The drizzling rain kept away any spectators, making for a super intimate first look experience! During their first look, Mae surprised Erik with EnChroma color blind glasses, and Erik got to see the vibrant yellow aspen leaves for the first time. What a gift!

Mae + Erik were super intentional with their ceremony and vows. They made God a central part of their wedding from beginning to end - including praying with their wedding party, worship during their ceremony, communion, and amazing, heartfelt vows. The rainy weather broke to give them epic moody clouds during their ceremony, complete with a double rainbow afterward. It turned out that the cool weather was definitely a gift from God that day.

Possibly the most exciting part of their day was the reception. With everyone hyped up on boba tea, this crew danced their faces off for hours! Remember, Mae and Erik had been going since 4am, but it didn't matter - this was THEIR day! Check out their moves! We're impressed.

Mae + Erik do life unconventionally. Their first kiss was literally their first kiss ever. They moved into a new house on their way home from this wedding. But only after they rode bikes from Telluride to Moab for their honeymoon. Their genuine and fun-loving personalities make their Buena Vista wedding video at The Barn at Sunset Ranch completely unique and unlike any film we've ever created! We hope their infectious love for life grabs hold of you like it did us!
